OLI

Born in 1992 in Hiroshima. Self-taught, OLI rose to prominence through graffiti and live painting, and in 2020 developed WARP, a technique of deliberately distorting the subject. OLI has exhibited at Shibuya PARCO and Miyashita Park and created designs for THE ORAL CIGARETTES.

When something once considered beautiful changes its form, can we still call it beautiful?

The figures OLI paints are distorted: their contours stretch and their bodies lose their boundaries. Yet there is no sense of collapse, and as you look, it is the standard of beauty itself that begins to shift.

There is a reason two figures merge in these works. OLI defines love as two people each feeling, "For this person, I would not mind changing who I am." The two transforming bodies appear as the very shape of love.

The exhibition presents 15 new works.
